I feel that this past week I've had my fingers cut off! No computer! It has been in the computer hospital under observation for a computer virus.
But all better now and I am spending an incredible amount of time going through all the postings that I've missed. It is sometimes better to wait a while and then get an eyeful of all the wonderful work out there - sensory overload!
So, in order to make my 'come back', I thought I would post a painting I did from one of the sketches in our life drawing group a month ago. I will also be putting this up at the end of the month for our annual Life Drawing and Landscape competition which is held by our local Art Society, South African Society of Artists. No selling, just judging by our peers! Nerve wracking!

I was wondering where you've been! So glad to know things are just fine with your computer too. The charcoal sketch itself is a thing of great beauty. My heart aches to be able to do what so many of you do. Wonderfully done, Liz!
Lovely painting Liz. The Colours are great.
Great looking painting, Liz. Should do well in the judging.
Computers: Can't live with 'em... but you can't live without them. Hmm...something else in my life used to be like that...but it's been so long, I can't remember what it was...
Hi Autumn Leaves, thanks for your concern and your lovely comment. I do hope you keep on drawing and painting as it's the only way to get anywhere. I felt like you when I started, but am slowly getting my confidence.
Thanks Maree!
Hi Dean - you are so right about computers!! And other things in life.... Of the 150 odd paintings put up for the evening, chances are not great, but hey, I did have a special mention last year, so who knows!
A few short years ago I didn't know that I needed a computer now I can't live without it! Nice painting, yes keep on posting so we can see your painting progression, good luck with the comp.
Aaah Diana - computers! I know someone who doesn't have one! Thank you for your kind words and wishes.
OMG THAT is absolutely gorgeous!!!
You painted this beautiful portrait from the sketch you did??? You didn't get her to sit for you again???
Liz, this will really wow them at the exhibit!!

Thank you so much Megha for your lovely words. I missed you all as well!
Gosh Barbara, coming from you that's great. I love painting Black skin tones - there is such depth and richness to the skin colour. And Christina is really lovely.
Hey!
Congratulations... I see you've become a DPIAG artist!!
Yeah!!!
Glad you're back -- it's only been a couple of weeks, but we missed you.
I loved that charcoal drawing when you posted back in July, and it's great to see your painting turned out so beautifully.
I really like your painting - well done! Too bad about your computer my desktop hard drive "will fail soon" according to the diagnostics. Darn things you can't live with 'em and you can't shoot 'em. Although . . . . .
Ken B.

Hi Marian, the DPIAG is thanks to you! Let's see how it goes.
Thank you Charlene, for both missing me and for the lovely comment!
Hi Ken, so nice of you to visit. I will be a visitor to your blog too now that I know where you are. As for computers, maybe shooting them would be too good for them!!!
Ohmy Ramesh, that is certainly not a nice thing to happen. Did you lose everything? We are so darned reliant on these things, it gets quite scary sometimes.
This figure is wonderful. Love the pose and the skin tones. Really beautiful!
really well done. It should do well.
thanks for commenting on my blog. I am pushing the season a little though we did have frost for two days last week. Some color showing up ever so slightly but I pushed it a litle on my Cottonwood paintings.
Good luck on the computer. Hope it runs like new again.
Liz, this is beautiful, the lines and the color are sublime. Thank you for honoring me in your blog on flowers recently. You are so kind!
I hope your computer gets well soon lady, mine has had sniffles lately too.

Lovely pose, complicated, and so well done! It is a glorious painting. I am impressed you did it from a charcoal sketch, I alway take photos! Good luck with the show.
Gosh Gwen, coming from you that's fantastic. Thank you.
Thank you Gary - I'm looking forward to some more wonderful Autumn paintings from you. Wish I could do plein air like you.
Hi Nancy, I do think you are a master of flower painting! The other, whom I should have mentioned is Fabio Cembranelli. Computers! hah. It's working now but here in Africa we have the added hang up of being soooo sloooow compared to you guys. Keep yours safe. And love to all the pugs.
Hello Sharon. You always amaze me. You were the first person whose life work I oggled over and wanted to emulate. So believe me, praise from you is so appreciated!
Hi,
You've achieved a fine work with some nice touches on the highlights.
I should beat myself once in a while for not practicing enough drawing with charcoal :-)
Kind regards,
José
