Kiera is a DARG dog, and according to DARG, she's a great companion, bonds well with people, is love-starved and is a real softie. I guess that's quite hard to believe from a Pitbull, given the bad reputation they've got over the years.
But like all protective breeds, if they're treated properly, they will be great companions. The Pitbull reputation has been brought about by unscrupulous owners using them for fighting purposes. So, there is no such creature as a bad dog, only a BAD OWNER.
I hope she finds the loving home she so deserves.

Oh Liz!!!
This looks so much like my Rocky. (Except somebody did bad things to his ears before we got him.... and he doesn't have any black on his ears or face)...
My Rocky is a sweet old guy who looks very scary but who is afraid of his own shadow and loves nothing better than to play (or lie around on the couch)
When Tyler was little I worried about Rocky but after Rocky saved him one time from going under in the pool, I stopped worrying and love him to death.
This is a fabulous portrait of a wonderful dog who would probably make someone a loving companion.
I'm not a big fan of the breeds referred to as pitbulls, but I think Kiera is beautiful -- and the enlargement of your painting is spectacular! Can't imagine what people who already love pitbulls will think of this...
when it comes to pet portraits , you are always at your best
Each time you speak of a dog, my heart breaks a little bit. I agree with you; dogs are a product of how they are raised. He is gorgeous and I wish I could hug him and make him feel safe.
What a lovely painting Liz. You never disappoint. I also know a very soft-hearted Pittbull. It's a pity they were tagged because of a few mishaps, normally caused by people anyway.
Hi Marian, I don't know how anybody can dislike any living creature and that includes Pitbulls! And good on Rocky for saving Tyler - I can so understand why you love him to bits. A big hug from me to you and him.
Fighting breeds do have a bad name Charlene, so I can understand why so many people don't like them. But they can be as gentle and loving as any other dog. Thank you for your lovely comment on my painting.
Hi Ajay, I absolutely love dogs so I guess it shows! Thank you so much.
Gosh Autumn Leaves, with a heart as big as yours, please give the dog closest to you a big hug! Thanks so much for the lovely comment.
Thank you so much Maree - what a lovely thing to say!
Excellent portrait, Liz! I, too, hope she will find a nice home.
This is one of my very favorites of your puppy portraits Liz! I love the strength you were able to give him and the colors are awesome. Great job!
I know Pitbulls have a bad reputation, but Kiera looks as sweet as any dog. This is another beautiful and sensitive portrait, Liz. I do hope she finds the home she needs and deserves.

you captured quite a character liz!
Kiera does indeed look like she's ready to improve the pit bull's reputation with a little gentle kindness. And Carlos may be old, but you've got his eyes sparkling. And your quacker robber is posted and linked on WINDOWS TO THE WORDS ART. Great work...thanks, Liz
Thank you so much Dean - here's hoping!
Have missed you Sheila! Thanks for the lovely comment.
Gosh Mineke, thank you. I also hope this helps both the reputation of the breed and find Kiera a loving home.
Thank you so very much for the lovely comment Liz!
Hi Rob. Hope you enjoyed Ireland! Thanks for the visit and comment on Kiera - always enjoy what you have to say.
Gosh James, was starting to get worried about you as there were no posts or anything from you. Thank you for visiting and the lovely words about both Kiera and Carlos. Glad you like the duck thief!
