His name is Wharf and he comes from the Hout Bay based organisation, DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group). I don't know very much about Wharf, but from his name would imagine he was found wandering round the docks.
DARG have a policy of never putting a healthy animal down and as a result, there are a few dogs and cats who have been staying at the centre for some time. Wharf is one of them, a sweet faced eldery dog who is looking for a home to retire to. Hopefully my little painting will help him find his 'forever' place in the sun!

Hello there Sanjeev! Thanks for the compliment! I hope you try your hand at oils one day. In total time I would say it took me about 5 to 6 hours, but I did it over two days.
That was a narrow escape in NZ! Are you coming here for the IPL? I need to phone and find out about tickets for the opening ceremony and games which are all being held here at Newlands. Not a 20/20 fan but can't miss this one.
Liz, You are so good at animals! He has such a sweet face...surely this portrait will do it for him!!
Liz, you've done a wonderful painting of a dog with a great smile!
Wharf is very sweet! Lovely handling of the paint.
You have a real gift for painting dogs, Liz - he's gorgeous - I hope it finds him a comfortable retirement home soon.
Oh Liz, I got a little teary eyed when I saw Wharf this morning. Dogs this breed sometimes get a bad reputation but you painted the sweet disposition they typically have. I spoke more about your painting on our Art for Animals Blog too. Your medal is on its way.
Hi, I found you through arts for animals, and am so glad to see your beautiful work. I love this painting of Wharf. So tenderly done! best,
(another) Liz

Hello Sheila! The wonderful Sheila who started this whole thing! Thank you for my award - I'll be putting it up soonest. I hope to finally meet Wharf when I go down there on Monday (hopefully the painting is dry by then!) Lots of Hugs and LOL.
Oh wow Ramesh, thank you. For the award and the compliment. It's great coming from someone as talented as yourself.
Oh Anurag I totally agree with you. Just a little giving from each one of us would make their lives so much better. Thank you for that!
Hi Liz, Fabulous dog paintings, your love shines through. And I admire your reasons for doing them, good job.
Thanks for your visit, your lovely comments and your good wishes.
I know wht you mean...it takes me all day sometimes to catch up with everyone, and I hate to miss something. Terrible choice...painting or looking at paintings!
Very nice painting of Wharf. Kinda looks like a South African Boerboel. If I wasn't so old to have a bog dog, that would be choice. They are such beautiful dogs.
who could put down a sweetheart like wharf?
looks like you cought his character liz, bless!
Hey SassyDog, you know about S.African braks then? Who knows what his lineage is, but maybe Boerboel!
Hi Rob, I know, I know, but luckily DARG don't do that. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your Spring!
Love this painting Liz. Hope he finds a good home to to retire to.

Hi Sharon, don't know why, maybe rushing too much, but missed your comment first time round. Thanks so much for the visit. And for the kind words. I love blogging but, oh boy, as you say, look at paintings or paint paintings!

Hi Judybec, thank you and I so agree with you!
Hi Liz, These last two paintings of dogs are wonderful. The one of your dog I just love. The look in her eyes, they sure are like your children aren't they? The shelter you talk about sounds like a wonderful place. I hope your painting finds this guy a home too, everyone should have a home. :)
I love the expression of this dog Liz - nice work!!!
Hello there Barbara, thank you for the visit and yes, Emma was my most special companion. I also hope this helps find Wharf a home.
Thank you Rachel!
