DSFDF - My Challenge

Ohmygosh I was so nervous about entering Karin's challenge, but thought if I don't do it now, then I'll never get past my misgivings about my abilities. So here she is, the artist I was sent to paint. It was certainly a challenge as I have no idea what she is like as a person. All I could see were those stunning eyes, and what an amazing mouth. I hope you like it, whoever you are.

HAVE A FANTASTIC FESTIVE SEASON !!

It's FABULOUS...
She will love it!! You are a lot braver than I.... and rightly so because you pulled it off!
Love the brushwork..
She looks like she's got a secret or something fun she's thinking about!

Happy Holidays!!

Dear Liz, I love my portrait. You are so sweet to say all of those lovely things. I live in USA, Rhode Island. I got your blog by googling your name. Hope thats OK.
Happy Holidays to you.

Hi Marian, thanks so much. I have no doubt that you would have done brilliantly - compliments coming from an artist such as yourself make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

At last Jo Ann, I can put a name to the face! I meant what I said - the first thing that struck me about your portrait was your eyes and your mouth - beautiful. And I am thrilled you found my blog to leave a comment and identify yourself. Visit again.

Carol you got me into this, so you can take some responsibility for where I'm at right now. You introduced me to Margie who really has been a guiding light in my painting life. Thank you.

This portrait is wonderful, lucky gal that you painted. Great skin tones and I don't know if you cropped it this way but it is so cute. Merry Christmas

Thank you Barbara. Merry Christmas to you to, although it's almost over in SA. Just come back from friends - Christmas lunch in the garden.

Although Jo Ann supplied a full photo, I brought her face forward and slightly to the side, so it's actually like this, and not cropped on the computer. Glad you like it.

Liz...it's a great portrait! Her skintones are beautiful. She seems to think you nailed her too. I'm afraid I don't check in often enough to know what you meant by "challenge", though. I guess I better get busy reading! :-)

I've always wanted to try protrait painting but don't think I have the talent - especially after seeing this example. Really good.

Dear Peggy, Igor, Jean and Susan - I thank you so much for your wonderful comments. It's people like you who keep me going and inspire me to go on and keep trying harder.

Jean your watercolours are fantastic and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't try portraits - you certainly do have the talent!

Thanks for the kind comment Liz. I love YOUR blog. I like the way you organized a "United Nations" of blogs you follow. I scanned back to November and I love "Roland". I can see why he must have been surprised and delighted by his portrait. GREAT WORK!
