Dry Dock

Gosh it's almost mid-Feb - time has just slipped by.

In January I seemed to be on the go the whole time, with 3 exhibitions to paint for.  And then on top of everything it's been so darned hot!  It must be the hottest January we've had in years with temperatures in the mid-30's (C that is).  The other day, I'm sure it topped 40!  But it's cooling down a little now, so the energy levels start to rise again.

I did rather well at the last exhibition which was the South African Society of Artists Merit Exhibition which I qualified for last year.  Sold a total of 5 paintings which was rather nice.  Considering on the previous 2, I only sold one.

This is one that sold.  It was done from a photo taken whilst plein air painting (or trying to) at the Waterfront in Cape Town centre.  It's called Dry Dock.

I had a quick trip around all my blogging friends, but haven't left any messages.  Will try and revisit in the next day or two.  Thanks for putting up with my tardiness!

Now that is an achievement! Though I am not surprised, your paintings have such feeling. Love this one, it is stunning.
I have missed you, but I am so pleased your life is full to the brim!

Congratulations on all those sales, Liz!! I love this one too. Hoping the cooler weather stays with you for a bit too. We're heading into the warmer weather here very soon. Personally the one season I could gladly skip is summer. Not a heat/humidity fan at all! The only good of summer, to my mind, is baseball!

I love the subject - so Cape Town! - and the composition, the colours - in fact everything about this painting Liz, great to see you back and doing so well with exhibitions and sales. I'm not surprised either!

Love those blues with just a touch of red and yellow on the paint pot. A fresh and lively subject. What a great start to the year.

As for leaving comments, Liz, don't worry. It's a real issue for me. I love to see what below bloggers are doing, feel leaving just a global sort of word is not doing them justice and so tip-toe away. The peoblem is time. How do i paint AND blog?

So the only solution i can see is for everyone to hang loose. Write when you can, paint whenever moved to, visit blogs in between. If we all take the long view, over a period of months, we can see the consistent pattern of interest and engagement.

Yey, let's hear it for all bloggy friends and fellow artists.
