Nice Kitty

Ok, I haven't been around for a while - 3 weeks in fact, but my gosh it's been HOT here!  Plus I've been working at the exhibition at Kirstenbosch, sweltering under the thatch roof and spotlights and by the time I get home, it's total melt down time.

This all sounds so strange when I look at pics from the Northern Hemisphere where there just seems to be snow, snow and more snow.  Oh for a little bit of that cool!

Early morning is the best - from 5am to 8am and I did a little bit of painting during those hours, in between walking the dogs, feeding the birds, watering the garden.....  So my humble apologies for not having visited - I am trying to make up for it now!

This is a smaller one (10x10) I finished before the exhibition and was sold, which is always nice!  A picture my sister took of a friends little black cat.

Hi Liz - lovely painting of the cat. I have a little black cat with tuxedo-shaped white on her chest and under her chin.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. That COLD temperature is not in my home town, rather it was in a northern Canadian city that I visited. My home, Vancouver, Canada has temperate winters.

I cannot see a way to send you an email on your site? Is that something you have done on purpose?

I totally understand the melt down as you call it! But a "freeze down" isn't much better! Oh, for a happy medium. And that's what we have in Southern California! It's great and I am completely spoiled now.

Glad you made it back!

This is a wonderful cat painting!! Veeery nice. No wonder it sold!

Gosh that was quick. Thank you Saundra! What a lovely thing to say and I so appreciate it!

I hope you paint that little cat of yours Shelley! And I didn't realise my email details had fallen off! It's back up now.

Oh..You have been busy.. But that should not be an excuse for not painting. But its good to see something from you after a long time. I think the perspective is really difficult in this one, but you are bang on.And I loved the brush strokes here too.

Hi there Shelley! Well, the whole world knows it never rains in Southern California, so I guess it never gets cold there too! The happy medium is definitely Spring and then Autumn! But definitely cooler this evening. Whew!

Art with Liz said...

Hey there Prabal - I know, I know, excuses, excuses - pathetic really!! And now there's the World Cup! Oh dear. Thank you dear friend for such great words.

Hi Liz, love the cat and it does remind me of a painting I once did which was called "The Cat's Viewpoint" I read about your taking part in the show, how was it?

The painting is great. Sorry to hear you aren’t enjoying this cold we are in. It was nice to think of it being warm somewhere.

Love the perspective Liz! I'm enjoying my cold days here in NJ, USA. Wish I could send you a cool breeze.

Beautifully handled perspective/point of view, Liz! Love the colors too. I think with sweltering heat as you mentioned, I'd have to lay down on that tile floor to cool down! Lovely piece!

Isn't it interesting the contrasts in this wonderful world we live in? from hemisphere to hemisphere. It has been pretty cold here last week though up to 43F yesterday.
Great kitty painting. No wonder it sold.

Darling! I love your black cat - in every way - and am relieved to hear that someone else has been out of blog posting commission. I had great plans but, alas, have been waylaid by the unexpected. Hope to be back at it soon. Glad that you're so positively engaged although sorry to hear about the sweltering. XO

Hi Marie - and thank you. I wasn't in the Merit, but took part in the Constantiaberg one at Kirstenbosch. I hope you will be putting up paintings for the Annual!

Thank you Skizo for always being there and for being so kind.

Thank you Tony - hot again tonight but not quite as bad as a week ago!

And thank you too, Krista!

Dear Benny and Lily, I know, I know, it is a cat, but it was a cute one!

You've given me ideas Sherry. Lying down on cool tiles hmmmmm - the dogs have got it right then! Thank you for your great comment.

Thank you Gary - yes, in a few months time I'll be complaining about how cold I am!

Thank you so much AK.

And thank you Crystal for the lovely comment.

Thank you Ramesh. I actually think my sister was too lazy to get down to cat eye level, hence the perspective. But it works for me!

Hi Suzanne and so sorry about your accident. Loved your drawing of your funny shoe, and with all this contact with all you artists, I have realised that it's ok not to paint when you're not feeling up to it. Thank you for liking my little black cat!

Art with Liz said...

Hello there Ken somewhere in snowy Arkansas (prononounced Arcansaw?). Only 100 lbs? Is that enough to last for another 2 months?? If so, send! My poor garden is looking the worse for wear - all those dry, brown patches!

Hi Liana and thank you. I guess I'll be complaining about the cold in July!

Art with Liz said...

Thank you so much Sue! What a nice thing to say.

Hi Jean and thank you! I love animals so painting them comes naturally to me! Not always successfully, but naturally!

Gosh, Liz... This is terrific. I guess painting black on black is kind of like dealing with all of the nuances of white.

WELL DONE... I like your viewpoint and the subtle shadow beneath him/her too!!

Dear Tweedles, you are so kind! Thank you.

Hi Sam and thanks! Selling is always a good feeling - someone out there actually likes your work enough to pay for it!

Hi there Marian. Thank you so much. By the way, I never use black - I mix Prussian blue with Cad red for my blacks - it seems to glow which black doesn't. I learnt this from one of my blogging friends!!

Art with Liz said...

Thank you Marty! And kisses from France are always welcome!

Thank you Melanie!

Dear Carol, thank you so much!
