Silhouette - Sold

There is just something about Shelley Smart's photos that draw me, and she so kindly gives me permission, when I ask, to paint those ones that call to me.

This is one of them.  An amazing photo, taken at sunset of this lone bird gave me the opportunity to put it on canvas.

Thank you Shelley and I would encourage everyone to visit her blog, A Year at the Beach - her beach, seabirds and waves bring a lovely feeling of tranquility.  But please respect her copyright!

Beautiful, Liz! You captured the scene perfectly!

Good job, Liz. Your "simple" painting requires much talent and thoughtfulness. I attempted a similar painting TWICE and wiped it off of the canvas. I will leave birds alone for a while.

At least the feathery kind of bird! ;-))

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Liz! So peaceful and beautiful! The reflection is stunning...such a solitary, but warm feeling! I painted one from my trip to Cali when I went to see my son and it was FUN FUN to do! Yours brought back such happy memories!

Awww, so nice! I don't think it's easy to paint a silhouette as nicely as you have! It is serene and lovely!

I want to paint some as I have many bird silhouettes that tempt me but I fear they won't be easy! But you inspire ME! Thanks, Liz! I am going to paint a photo a week from my Year at the Beach this coming year! (she said optimistically!)

And thank you for your kind words!

Hi Liz, lovely painting and I like your recent portrait work, too!

In answer to your question, no, there's no copyright on the 'sign'-- (how funny)! If it helps you stay focused, please print one off for yourself! In fact, I think I may make a link on my next post for people to print from.

There are no words to explain the peaceful feeling that we get when we gaze at this painting.
The colors and mood all fit so perfectly into the splendor you captured. The reflection is perfect

This is wonderful, especially the reflection in the wet sand! We have been in the middle of a snow storm all day long, and this beautiful painting just made my heart melt :)

Lovely reproduction! He reminds me of my "loner at La JOlla",, is he lost or is he just enjoying his solitude?

Love it. It is simple and wonderful. I recently took photos on vacation of seagulls reflecting in the water, I may have to paint those.
