Cold it was, but I had the most marvellous time meeting my two new grandchildren and catching up with the oldest one. And it was just wonderful seeing the whole family again.
But confession time. I haven't done any painting! Started one or two before I went to Sweden, and have done next to nothing since I got back last Monday night. I think I'm having an 'art-down-time' !
But what I did do was go to the National Gallery in Stockholm and these are a few of the gems that I was lucky enough to see.
|
Claude Monet - From the Mouth of the Schelde |
|
Paul Cezanne - Landscape |
|
Camille Pissarro - Landscape from Pontoise 1874 |
|
Eduoard Manet - Young Boy Peeling Banana |
and a little gem almost hidden away -
|
Vincent van Gogh - Acacia in Flowers |

It must have been a great time catching up with your family. I am sure you felt great. And lucky you.. to have seen all these legends just meters away from you.
I'm happy you had a nice time with your family ! this is so important !
Yes you were lucky to visit the
Gallery in Stockholm ! I think that it's time for you to paint now a little ??? I hope and wait for your next painting !!
Bisous
So glad you had a great trip. Those times are so good for the soul!
I also enjoyed the photos you brought back from the museum trip. Love the acacia one especially!!
It will come.
LIZ...thank you SO much for the art show!! And, I don't think I have EVER seen this Van Gogh...so it was an especially wonderful treat! I'm glad you got to see your family...that is most important!! You will get back to that painting when you are ready!
Great to see you back among us! (Come to think of it, you were closer to some of us in Sweden than you are now that you're home!) Anyway, what do you mean, you haven't done anything since you've got home? There are thousands of things that have to be done when you get home from a big trip, so you're excused from heavy participation (for a few more days anyway). Sure glad you happened across the little van Gough "gem almost hidden away" It's really quite wonderful!
Glad you had a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing these impressive works!!
How wonderful to see your family! And the art, too! I had never seen that Van Gogh, and it's wonderful! Thanks for all of it!
Beautiful. Mom went to the de Young Museum in San Francisco and saw the Van Gogh, Matisse, etc exhibit..

Downtime is good, like catching up with family. I'm glad you had a great time with them and I think it will come out in your art, once the batteries are recharged.
Glad you had a good time! The art museum must have been amazing. I'm also going through an art dry spell. Guess it's relative's visiting, getting holiday shopping done (early for a change) anniversary this Friday and more...maybe soon we will both be creating again!
We missed you, but so glad you had a good time!
Thank you for sharing all these treasures with us.
I was so excited to see you were back!

Thank you for showing these lovely works of art. That really is such an unknown Van Gogh!
Its always nice to meet our near and dear ones (certainly not near, if we go by distance...lol) You may not have been able to paint all these days but I m pretty sure you are inspired very much after seeing those masters' works. We are waiting for your next work :)
There's no crime in setting aside the brushes for a few days. Good to take time to relax, reinvent... and get some good inspiration!
So glad you had a wonderful trip. The paintings are beautiful, I can only imagine what they look like in person. Everyone needs a little rest once in awhile. We will wait!
Hi Prabal, yes, the whole trip was great and loved the gallery time. Not sure the rest of the family enjoyed it.
Hi Marty - I'm trying to get back into the painting mood! It's taking some time.
Aah Martine, you are so right. I have so little time with the family and it was precious. And I agree, Pissaro is great! I have a close-up of this one as well.
Loved the time off with family Marian and that van Gogh was such a 'find'!!
I hope so Elizabeth! Still waiting!
Hi Saundra, and it was absolutely my pleasure! I took lots more - maybe I'll put the others up one day!
Hi Charlene and yes, I was quite a bit closer to you then than I am now! And I know what it's like to be cold in November! Back in the heat now so I guess one of things I'm 'working' on, is sunning myself! Seriously, I don't seem to have stopped since I got back!
Dear Manon, it was my pleasure and thank you.
It was my pleasure Shelley! I took photos of the children and will eventually paint one or two of them!
Hi Benny and Lily. Please tell your mom she is soooo lucky to have all those wonderful artists' works right there. We have to travel forever to get to see those masters.
It was special Di! Thank you. Hopefully will see you before you go?
Hi Willy and thanks for the link. Wow, to be able to just 'pop over' to Paris to see an exhibition like this!! Enjoy.
Hi Sue! I thought of you when I was wandering around Doha airport at 3am! It was worth it though, seeing the family, but I'm starting to feel guilty about all this downtime!
Wow Crystal, I'm glad I'm not alone! I am finding that my art groups help and even though I think I'm producing absolute rubbish, at least it's an attempt. Soon!
Dear Tweedles, I missed all my special blogging friends too, and was so glad I could catch up when I got home! Thank you!
Hi Marie and thank you. Yes, I had to do a double check on the name as I'd never seen this one. It's actually quite small and the only one in their permanent collection.
My gosh Ramesh, if anything I found them intimidating! Especially Manet! But I will take heart and get back to the easel! Very soon! Tomorrow!
Thank you R! I so appreciate your comment!
Hi Becky, I did have a great time! And all your comments are so inspiring! Thank you.
Glad that you had a good visit and a safe trip, Liz!
Esp loved the Van Gogh.
Just a slight observation on the Eduoard Manet painting... methinks it tis a pear instaed of banana. :)
Liz, good to have you back and glad you had a lovely time with your family. Painting downtimes are often when something is busy brewing.... wonderful gems, especially the little van Gogh!
Liz, I am sure you enjoyed yourself in Sweden, it is a lovely place and grandchildren only make it better.
Thanks for posting the paintings..the VanGogh was unknown to me.
