Missing again for a week and this time I wasn't even painting!
I have been trying to catch up with mundane things though, like all this blasted administrative work I seem to be surrounded with lately. But I've promised myself, it's painting tomorrow, come rain or shine!
This painting was done a few weeks back and submitted for our Annual selection day. Unfortunately the judges didn't like it, so it didn't make it. But I was quite pleased with it, and after the initial disappointment, am still happy with it. Hope you like it too.

Hi Liz, I like your composition, the colors, all of it! The judges probably should have their eyes examined! :-) I especially like your background colors & how they are repeated in the boys figures. BRAVA!

Liz...I don't ever try to understand judges...I like the emotion that it invokes! The color scheme is so nice...nice piece!

Hi Liz, It's a lovely painting, full of feeling: I like the expressions on the boys' faces.
One never knows what goes through a judge's mind; I think they often chose with balance, rather than merit, in mind!
You know you can enter a piece in one show and the judges will award it first place and the same piece will not receive anything in another show its all....just an opinion. I love this piece!-- for what its worth! :-)

We love this portrait. We feel the emotion. The colors are awsome.
We do not understand how judges either,,,, how they come to determine if something is a winner or not.
This portrait is powerful, it speaks,, and we love it.
And you love it,,, many of us love it, and if others saw it,,, they would love it to.
So much feeling and compassion cannot be put into a portrait like this and not win,,,, something is definately wrong with the judge.
Everything you paint has feeling, compassion and love in it.
That is why we love you!
