Every time I go to the Art Challenge blogs, I think, oh I must try that. And I just never seem to get there!
But James Parker's Windows to the Words challenge blog is the one that I do seem to manage! Maybe because most of the others are landscapes, which terrify me, and James' blog posts wonderful images like this Little Green Frog which I can manage to do in one session.

hello Liz ! j'aime les grenouilles et je les trouve drôles ! quand j'ai vu la tienne avec ses grands yeux étonnés, j'ai ri aussi !
elle est superbe !

He's a cutie, Liz.
I was feeling a little low right now (Just finished a bad painting) and then I open my pc and see this frog of yours and there was a big smile on my face. Need I say any more?? :)
very cool.I love it.
Love this frog, Liz!! So painterly and so perfectly done!
I had a look at James Parker's challenge,,, You're right -- his photos are wonderful. And I think the green frog is even more appealing as a painting, and a delightful thumbnail in my blog list!
I love it, he is just perfect :)
Lovely... I really like James Parker's challenges but rarely seem to be able to meet the deadline.
WELL DONE, Liz... really great... It's almost ready to leap off the screen!!
He's wonderful, Liz. I love the blue highlights and the dark greens of the background. Someone who handles green so well should have no fear of landscapes!
The photo was very good, but your interpretation sings!
It's a real nice counterpoint to the Gulf of Mexico, Liz. Risk for Profit should not supersede happy frogs.
Love your painting of the frog. You've done him proud, made him so very special.
Your frog made me smile, Liz!! He's awesome!!
what a great painting
Benny & Lily
LOVE your frog and duck, really nice!!! I would LOVE to come to Africa some day!!!
No matter what animal you paint, you always capture its personality so well. This little guy is adorable!
You painted this fellow so well! Actually I had him on my board, too but unfortunately never got around doing it!And now its August!Love your brushwork in this one, Liz.
I can see that you did him with such simple yet sweeping strokes that shows you confidence to handle the subject, he is very cute!
This is one bright eyed and gorgeous little frog, Liz! I have to say that I don't feel quite as scared of landscapes as I do of figures or still lifes. I love how you have his little toes wrapped over the edge of the leaf. In fact, I love how you handled the leaf itself!
DARLING!!!!
What a cute painting. The green little frog jumps off of the green background, love the hints of blue on him.
Liz, this is a stunning piece of artwork! Very well done!
What a neat painting. You certainly know how to handle green. Landscapes should be a breeze for you.
Jean
I love this little fella! Are you familiar with Beanie Babies? I have a little green frog beanie baby that sits on a shelf in my bathroom. Your frog reminds of him.
First of all, my apologies for not answering your wonderful messages - I've been AWOL from my computer for a few days - no excuse, just missing.
Dear Marty thank you and I'm glad my little frog made you laugh.
Thank you Carol.
A great joy to make you smile Prabal!
Thank you so much Jason.
I did slap the paint on a bit Dean! You're a good influence!
Hi Charlene, thank you. I love James' sense of humour as well as the great pics he gives us to do.
Gosh Krista, thank you so much.
Hi there Marian, thank you for that. There are so many wonderful challenges out there - so little time...
That is so nice of you Laura. I love mixing greens but when faced with the great outdoors, can't seem to get it right. But will keep trying.
Thank you Bernard for the really nice words and the visit. I enjoyed your work.
Dear Elizabeth, I loved your comment - happy frogs we DO need.
Thank you Tony. When I saw the pic, I just loved the face.
Making you smile Manon, makes my day. Thank you.
Dear Benny and Lily who are my favourite French Bulldogs, thank you so much.
Wow Rachel, thank you - always appreciate a compliment like this coming from you. Special. And I'll see you when you make the trip!
Thank you so much Mineke! That's really such a nice thing to say. I do love animals though - all of them!
Hi there Arti and thank you so much. These challenge blogs are wonderful aren't they! but when to do all of them...
Thank you Padmaja! I very rarely do small paintings and this is one of the smallest. Maybe that's why the brush strokes are more obvious. Maybe I should buy a BIG brush for the bigger paintings!
Hi Sherry and thank you. It's wonderful how we have our preferences and strengths and weaknesses. One day I'll try for that great watercolour landscape! Ha!
Dear Carol. Thank you.
Thank you so much Barbara!
Gosh Ramesh, I really appreciate that.
No, no Jean! There's too much green in landscapes! Ok, maybe one day.
Dear Becky, I have no idea who Beanie Babies are! They didn't make any trips to Africa!
HiLiz...I don't know if he 's smiling, I think he's curious about something....It's really cute, I liker your greens here, frog x background, nice green contrast, hard to achieve it.
liz it showes you had fun with this!wich lifts the viewer, lovely greens you used
He's gorgeous! Ad you've used greens very intelligently, despite the limited palette everything is beautifully clear. And my nickname if Froggy so you've hit a good personal note ;)
Beautiful froggy, he looks alert sitting there I wonder if he spies his next meal! Lovely soft background and subject.
Nice brushwork and greens!
