A Dog Challenge

How can I resist challenges like last month's one on James Parker's Windows to the Words blog?  Especially when it involves DOGS!

This is a beautiful dog owned by Laura Rowe.  Unfortunately I don't have her details or a blog address for her, or the name of this beautiful dog, but she did one of my Katie in return.

Here they both are -

Nice paintings, both of them! Katie is a beauty!

Great job, Liz! Plus a very nice portrait of your Katie!

I wanted to join this challenge, but just having lost my little Dolly a few months ago it would have been too much on me.

Both of these are 'made my day' paintings. I just have to see them in the morning and I'll be happy for the rest of the day.

I saw these both on the WTTW challenge and thought they were terrific. You captured that playfullness in Laura's dog perfectly. "It's time for play" it says. The painting of Katie was so accurate to your photo, a great painting of your best buddy! I too had trouble with the one done of my dog, as I had no link to a blog where I could thank Jen, who did mine. I may post it as you did, just so I could say thank you.

Only dog lovers could paint these portraits so well. Being a fellow dog lover they did put a smile on my face.

how fabulous! Katie especially is a real charmer. And the Labels beneath made me smile too - "dogs, oil". I thought, yep, dogs will get into anything, lol.

These portraits are spectacular.
I just love the expression and the twinkle in the eyes. They both seem like they could jump off the canvas.
Katie looks like such a sweet heart, and so does Laura Rowe's dog.
So beautifully done- both of them.
Last year my portrait was painted by this contest. We enjoyed looking at all the other entries of the other dogs too,

Great dogs painted by great dog lovers -- I love these pictures, and I'm so glad you found the time to post them. When you took the photo for Laura's painting, Katie doesn't look like she was saying (or ever says) "Let's go work on your blog, Liz"

Beautiful job on Laura's dog, Liz--love seeing its sweet soul in the eyes. It has been a wonderful treat, as always, to browse your postings since my last visit--so much amazing work, I could go on and on in commenting. The inner character you captured in the portrait of the street person is truly masterful. Also love your donkeys--the touches of color in their coats and in the earth in the foreground add a lot to this interesting, quiet painting.

Thank you so much Sharon!

Hello Diana and thanks for the visit and comment. I cannot imagine life without a dog, they are so much a part of my life!

Hi Padmaja - I guess you had to have a dog to do this one - maybe you should have borrowed one??

Thank you Sherry. Katie is special!

hello Dean and so sorry about your Dolly! I can understand why you didn't do the challenge and thank you for being so kind about my painting and my Katie.

Dear Prabal, what a special comment! Thank you.

Hi Nancie and thank you for that. I also emailed James asking him for Laura's details, so hopefully will get something back.

Thank you Janelle. Katie loves to eat!

A person who smiles when they see an animal is a special person Jean!

Thank you so much Laura.

Hi Harry and thanks for the visit. Your comment made me laugh - both Katie and Jessie go for swimming and massage therapy every week, so whatever they 'get into' gets washed out then!

Thank you Ramesh!

Thank you so much Hilda, for the lovely comment and the visit.

Gosh Tweedles, thank you! And the person who painted a special dog like you was certainly the lucky one!

Hi there Charlene and thank you! No, Katie doesn't say 'let's do some blogging' - translated her words are normally, 'where are the biscuits?'

Merci Martine, and glad to see you back blogging again.

Bonjour Marty and thank you! And yes, Katie is a softie even though she is a Rottweiler! Both of them are thoroughly pampered and spoilt as all dogs should be!

Thank you Marie. I struggled a bit with the eyes, but was happy finally!

Wow Mary what a lovely comment. Thank you so much. I am putting the portrait of the street person up for selection, so fingers crossed! and the donkey painting has found a home.

Dogs are so much fun to paint and capture their personalities, and you have done an excellent job here. Beautiful, Liz, as always.

I so appreciate your visits Carol and your comments. Thank you so much.

Hello Liana and thank you so much. Katie is kind of cute for a big dog. And I think I'm slowing down now after all that hectic 2000 stuff!
