World Cup Fever

Couldn't resist this one!

As you know, the World Cup is in my neck of the woods.  And we are having a great time and I'm slowly being converted to becoming a soccer/football fan.  So watched Ghana lose to Uruguay on a penalty shootout (sob, sob), Germany thrash England and then this - another big upset.  The Netherlands beating Brazil!

This fan echoed it all.  Sketched in pastels (not my medium) quickly at the end of the game in my brand new Moleskine!

Hi Liz,Très joli pastel... je peux y lire l'angoisse et le regard perdu ailleurs... Je peux croire en cette expression face à un jeu... bien que moi personnellement je n'ai aucun enthousiasme pour le sport!

Liz, I think this is absolutely a beautiful portrait. It truly is magnificent and I'd love to see more pieces like this one. A super strong and gorgeous painting. Can't believe you did this so quickly and to such beautiful effect. And she is lovely herself!

Charlene expresses the feeling- dazed disbelief! How could they loose?
Great sketch and pastels seem to be your hidden medium.

Hi Martin and Merci! She was actually crying that they'd lost!

Dear Sherry, thank you so much. It took about 20 minutes to sketch and I'm doing a pastel workshop in two weeks - so I'll know what I'm doing!

Hello there Marian. Thank you. It was quite amazing how emotional these fans were! In absolute tears - I just didn't know how to draw the tears in pastel!

I'm trying Tony! Need some pastel lessons as I haven't a clue as to what do to with them. But they're quite nice!

I think the whole of Brazil was disbelieving Elizabeth! She just reflected the collective emotion!

Dear Manon, thank you. A typical Brazilian beauty! And as you say, it's hard not to get the 'fever'.

Hi there Padmaja - thank you and although they were totally disbelieving, she has the most beautiful eyes! Lovely to draw!

As you say Marie, more important than life or death!! Love the emotional latins - so expressive! Can you imagine if Spain had lost last night!?

Merci Marty - it was a small sketch and sometimes doing it quickly, ie without fiddling, pays off!

Hey there Sethu - thank you and looking forward to the Sunday game!

Dear Yucaiyucai (or is it Becky Stanley?) - thank you for commenting on my blog and my art. I see your blog is about finance, but cannot read any more than a small section.
