Kirstenbosch Visitors

Whilst on duty at Kirstenbosch during the Merit Exhibition, a group of pre-schoolers came for an outing through the gardens.

This is a regular occurrence during the week with all sorts of school groups coming through to learn about the gardens, how they are run, and more importantly, to respect the natural order of nature and not to just pick and destroy.

This little group was part of a very much larger group who gathered together on the stone steps waiting for instructions and direction from their teachers.  They were also the cause of much photographing by the adults, including me, as they presented such a cute picture.  I am hoping to do a few more of the kids as they sat on the steps, but this is the first.

and a close up of the three

I have also been given another award - Martine Alison who does the most amazing paintings, writes in French, a language I have had no connection with, and consequently have to rely on Google translate to understand fully what she says.  She is a lovely lady who never fails to leave a comment on my blog.  Martine, bless you, and thank you.

Hi Liz!
Thank you for your kind comments let on my blog.
Next time i'll try to write you in english!

Hi Liz

Great painting...the way you handled the steps is wonderful.
And those kids are so cute.

I'm coming to SA in July, to Jo'burg, Durban and Whitrivier.
(sorry, not to Capetown on this trip)

I'm hoping that you or one of your SA readers can recommend an art supply store in Jo'burg. I cannot my paints on the flight, so will have to buy some as soon as I get there.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi there Prabal in your sunny Orange Hat! Thank you. I've just watched RCB lose horribly to MI, so will have to support another team now! Let's see what DC do tomorrow!!

Dear Marie, thank you and yes, I am going to be putting it on exhibition at the beg. of May at Kirstenbosch. Let's hope somebody there likes it too.

Thank you Crystal - they were just so cute and I loved the fella on the right - a future politician!!

Dear Martine, Merci, but I use Google translate so I really don't expect you to send your lovely comments in English! French is not a language used here - we have Afrikaans (akin to Dutch and Flemish) and 9 indigenous languages. Some Portuguese and German, but very little French!

Hi Jean, and thank you. Hopefully I can get it on to the show!

Dear Sheila, thank you so much. I miss you when you don't post and haven't yet learned to use that fb thing you're into. Don't stay away too long!

Wow R, thank you so much! From you, I treasure the compliment!

Oh Shelley, how can you not come to Cape Town?!!? Whiteriver I can understand and maybe at a push, Durban, but no Cape Town? Cathy Gatland sounds like the kind of person who would know everything in Jo'burg about art supplies. Email her on cathy.asketchintime@gmail.com - her blog is on my side bar under A Sketch in Time. By the way, it's also darned cold in July!!

Thank you so much Silver! Keep smiling!

Dear Sherry, thank you so much. They were so good, sitting there waiting for instructions from their teachers and posing for all the happy snappers!

Thank you Arti! You also do kids so well - they're special to paint, aren't they!

Having been associated with schoolchildren most of my life, I can just see those personalities in your painting....!!!
I love the way they are waiting for the teacher and adopting the "listening attentively" posture.
