Oude Molen

I think this is going to be the last of the plein air for this year for me - after all, it's holiday time and it's Christmas and New Year and there's cricket to watch ... so much activity at this time of the year.  But the group will get together again round the middle of January, although where we'll be going, I don't know!  A wait and see experience.

This little painting (9"x12" is little for me!) was again done at Oude Molen, but boy was the wind doing its thing.  I was all ready to give up, but these die hard plein airheads said, no, it's part of the atmosphere.  So, if you look closely, you will see all the dust and dirt that now decorates my painting!  I guess once it's dry, I will be able to brush it off.

Last week I painted the back of the little shop, so this week, here is the front!

To all those who celebrate Christmas, have a wonderful day tomorrow, and to everyone else, enjoy the holiday season.

What a lovely painting, Liz! Great architecture too. What is on the front of the building, right sight? I cannot tell if it is a window or a flag or screen of some sort (no worries; it is my eyes and not your beautiful painting, truly). May you and your family have a truly blessed holiday season!

Hi Autumn Leaves - thank you - you are such a special person always visiting and leaving delightful comments. That green thing on the building is actually their sign - I think it says Oude Molen and Organic Produce. Have a great Christmas - keep warm!

A lovely cottage, Liz! It is wonderful to stumble onto something like that. The texture of your work gives it a special rustic look! Thank you for visiting my fairies' Christmas tree.

Hi Liz - For what it means, I vote that you leave the "natural texture" in/on your painting! The natural texture makes it TRULY unique! :-) I've threatened to go outside & work, but . . . I always find an excuse.

Merry Christmas.
Ken B.
PS Thanks for looking a my poor blog.
PPS: The magic word for this comment was LIZINC! COOOOOLLLL. Get it? Liz Inc. Of course you did.

Hi Tony and thank you - yes the wind was blowing, quite a lot in fact!

Thank you Jasy. I must admit that when the wind blows, it certainly clears any rubbish from the air.

Dear Janelle, thank you for your wishes and your kind words.

I do hope that all my blogging world friends and their families had a beautiful, restful Christmas and you are looking forward to a superb New Year.

He there Cindi, and thank you too for always visiting and encouraging me!

Oooh Saundra, white - I remember that from last February! Not my favourite outdoor colour - but then your trees in all their green glory will be back in a couple of months.

You're welcome Manuel, and thank you for your good wishes.

Hi Marie, thank you so much - coming from you I really appreciate this.

You know Ken, I will probably forget that all that muck is on the painting, so it will probably stay there. And no question, I really enjoy your blog - both your sense of humour and your work! Hope you had a great Christmas day. Cheers Liz Inc.

Thank you Michelle!

Hi V - I'm thrilled that you've visited me - and although I don't always leave a comment (can't keep up with all these daily postings!) your work always gives me so much pleasure!

Likewise James, you always make me laugh! And that is such a gift. Cooler today, but still wearing shorts! Hope you had a blessed Christmas.

Very organic, Rob, very organic. Even the bugs are organic! Am starting to enjoy it as well! Will probably go back after cricket - a game that Welshmen don't understand!

I'm stubborn Sharon, that's why I do it! Stupid huh? But it does kind of grow on you after a while of sheer persistence.

You can't tell that you were struggling with the elements. I admire you for getting out there, our season of warm weather is kind of short. I make myself get out there once in a while, it's tough.

I love these old buildings and you have painted this one so well. It brings back such memories. The tree in front looks windblown. Wishing you all the best for 2010. Happy painting.
