Autumn

I keep finding these wonderful challenge blogs, and the latest on my list is Dana Marie's Inspiration all Around us. That is where I got my last posted painting of the horse from .

Dana Marie runs her blog a little differently in that you have to do your own posts. All you do is email her and she lets you have the details, and off you go!

This is the latest one from the blog - just a reminder of Autumn to all of you living in the Northern Hemisphere!

Oh I'm as pleased as Punch and so honoured! The inimitable James Parker, who lives in Texas, has a wicked sense of humour, also runs a challenge blog called Windows to the Words.

Last month he posted pictures of cats and my drawing of Michelle's Figaro was given 2nd place and a prize to boot!Thank you James, for doing what you do, and being who you are.

This is a beautiful interpretation of the colours in the challenge - excellent application of artistic licence!

Hi Liz Very nice colours and loose expressive brushwork. Subtle treatment of the leaves, and I bet they were tough. Shelley

Yay for you for receiving a Parker prize! I love your still life. Your flecks of light really give it a dreamy look. Still life paintings are still a challenge for me. Well done Liz!

Thank you Charlene, it's a nice composition and I now quite like still life.

Hi there Shelley, yes, those leaves were a challenge but with my newfound "freedom licence" I used the back of my brush on them!

Thank you for your kind words Ken - and I enjoy visiting your blog!

I do hope you try one Diana, especially with the way you see and interpret things!

Hi there lovely Sheila! Great isn't it, but then James is kind of special (and funny, and generous and and ..) I'm getting into still life, far more so than plein air! Still battling with that.

Thanks Saundra! Figaro was great to paint, like your Shadow, and I did enjoy the horse. Thinking about it, it took me three hours in class to finish it - just shows what freeing up can do!

Thank you Sam and thank you for visiting!

I think part of the blurry effect came from shaky photography Ramesh!! I did try the soft approach in the painting though, so thank you.

You are so very kind Cathy. Thank you.

Hello Marian - such a nice comment, thank you.

Hi there Barbara - I think I quite like still life - it feels better blurring the outlines in them for some reason. So thank you.

Special Dianne, thank you so much.

Ah! I'm glad you have the time to find these challenges! I love to read about them and see your results. Love the colors in this and the way you handled the leaves. A nice segue from the leaves by Figaro. Congrats on your prize!!

Liz, I love the leaves in this painting. I am going to study it hard to see what you're doing - you've gotten the surface of the leaves especially so tactile. Wonderful.
