Saundra's Shadow

A couple of weeks ago, wonderful artist, Saundra Lane Galloway, posted a pic of her beloved cat, Shadow. Her heart is still sore after all this time about losing Shadow and she hasn't yet brought herself to paint him, but decided to put Shadow's picture up for others to paint.

Although I am a 'dog' person, I still love all animals, and Shadow looked so sweet lying on the sofa without a care in the world, I decided to have a go. (Go to Saundra's post on the story of Shadow)

It is such a shame that our much loved pets only stay with us for a short time, but maybe they teach us that life is fleeting and to be enjoyed while we can.

Liz I expect Saundra was so pleased to see this on your blog, it is sad animals are only with us for part of our lives but when they are with us they are the centre of the universe

It was a beautiful pic to paint Saundra, and I am so glad you like it. I'm rather pleased with the way he came out.

Hi Marian, how's the 'flu? Hopefully you're over the pneumonia part! Thanks for the comment and keep yourself nice and warm!

Thank you so very much Jason. I really appreciate your visit and comment.

Hello Karie Ann - any comment from you about animal paintings is an absolute honour - thank you. Hope Willow is not too spaced out after eating all those internet cables! Even though animals are with us for only a short time, they certainly make our lives richer for being there.

Welcome back to blogland Jean, and thank you so much for the kind words.

Gosh Sheila, I think I have a long way to go before I catch up with the size of your heart and kindness. You are a special lady as all us who visit you know, and I thank you with all my heart for your lovely words. Big hugs for you too.

Liz, This is just lovely! I have tried to paint my own cat as he is almost 20 years old and I just can't capture the essence of him. I know I will miss him so much when his time comes.

Hi Carolann, thanks for the visit. It is hard to capture someone you are so very close to, but I would love to see you try!

So nice to see your incredible work Diana, and thank you for the kind words.

Thank you Carol - the reference photo was great so I guess that made it a little easier. He looks so sweet.

Ah Suzanne, thank you!

Ah Liz, this is such a beautiful, contemplative work. It makes me think of a quiet room in the sunshine with a happy little kitty dreaming nearby, I am not surprised Saundra loved it so much.
hugs from Texas....

Hi there Nancy, thank you! Loved the flowers and strawberries you did for her as well. And hugs from a cold, wet, Cape Town!

Gosh Susan, that is such a nice way of putting it. I did enjoy painting Shadow - maybe it was the love that was put into taking his picture that helped as well?

Shadow's sweetness comes shining through in your painting. It is very sad indeed to lose such a devoted and loving companion. Some of my dogs and cats are getting up there and it breaks my heart to have to let them go one day.

Lovely to have you visit Becky. Thank you for your kind words and make sure you have plenty of photos and such of your dogs and cats. Enjoy them while they are still with you!
